Fantasyland, Cars Land, and a city built around citrus

Give the parks different mornings

Disneyland Park brings together the original park's classic lands and attractions. A morning in Fantasyland or a visit to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge gives the day a clear starting point. Across the esplanade, Disney California Adventure offers a different choice: Cars Land, the boardwalk rides of Pixar Pier, or the superhero attractions of Avengers Campus.

For a first trip built around both parks, give each a full day rather than treating the second gate as an afternoon extra. Choose the attractions that matter to your group, leave room for a meal and a break, and pick one evening finish. Look at the Packing House before choosing lunch

The Packing House makes Anaheim's agricultural past visible through its timber structure and warehouse scale. Independent food counters and communal tables now fill the former citrus building. Walk both levels before ordering: the architecture is part of the visit, not just a setting for the meal.

Continue through Farmers Park and the neighboring historic buildings, then head toward Center Street Promenade for shops, cafes, and civic blocks. Give this part of Anaheim roughly a half-day when lunch is the main event, and check individual merchant hours before making one counter essential.

Harbor Boulevard hotels

Harbor Boulevard is not downtown Anaheim

The resort district surrounds Disneyland Resort and the Anaheim Convention Center. Downtown Anaheim lies north around the Packing District and Center Street; the stadium, arena, and ARTIC lie east in the Platinum Triangle. Choose a hotel for the part of the city that brings you here, then plan a ride, bus, or car transfer to the others.

For park days, compare the complete lobby-to-entrance walk from Harbor Boulevard or the west-side Downtown Disney approach. A nearby room can make a midday rest and evening return practical. For a convention visit, let the meeting location determine the hotel and save a free half-day for downtown.

Three nights give both parks room

Arrive Thursday, spend Friday at Disneyland Park and Saturday at Disney California Adventure, then leave Sunday for the Packing House and Center Street if departure allows a half-day. With an early departure, keep breakfast near the hotel instead. Los Angeles or the coast calls for an extra day or a different itinerary, not another stop on the way back from the parks.
