Who should choose Anaheim

Stay for the park gates, convention blocks, or a ticketed sports night

Anaheim is strongest when one of those reasons already belongs in the trip. Downtown adds food, architecture, and local history, but it does not turn a short resort stay into a general tour of Southern California. Add Los Angeles or the coast only with another day.

First Disneyland visit

Choose a Harbor Boulevard or west-side resort hotel with a pedestrian route you will still want after dark. Give Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure separate mornings; two full park days are more useful than squeezing both gates into one rushed day.

Convention trip with a free day

Stay near the Anaheim Convention Center when the meeting schedule controls the trip. The park entrances remain reachable on foot from many convention-district hotels, while the Packing District makes a better half-day away from the resort than a traffic-heavy Los Angeles detour.

Baseball, hockey, or concert weekend

Let the ticket determine the eastern end of the day. Pair Angel Stadium or Honda Center with the Packing House and Center Street, then use the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) only when the current train schedule fits the event.

Harbor Boulevard is not downtown Anaheim

The resort district surrounds Disneyland Resort and the Anaheim Convention Center. Downtown Anaheim sits several miles north around Center Street and the Packing District. The stadium, arena, and ARTIC transportation center lie east in the Platinum Triangle. A walkable hotel can simplify the park days, but the other districts still require a ride, bus, or car.

Three nights suit a first resort trip because each park gets a morning and the arrival evening stays easy. Sunday can hold the Packing House and Center Street when departure is late enough. A game or concert should replace a park evening rather than being wedged between rides. Los Angeles and coastal Orange County require additional time and separate transportation.
