A hotel within a comfortable walk has value beyond the first entrance. A swim, nap, shoe change, or quiet hour can make an evening return plausible for families and multigenerational groups. “Near Disneyland” covers hotels with very different pedestrian approaches, so the complete lobby-to-entrance route matters.
If the room is farther away, consider staying through the afternoon instead of spending the break in traffic, security, and parking transitions. Shade, indoor attractions, a long meal, and lower-intensity experiences can make the afternoon easier inside the gates.
Keep one real meal in the day. Plaza Inn gives Disneyland Park a familiar Main Street lunch or dinner stop, while Lamplight Lounge at Pixar Pier is a more deliberate Disney California Adventure meal with waterfront seating. Character meals, menus, and reservations change, so book the restaurant only after its park day is fixed.
