Orange County airports, regional rail, OC Bus routes, freeways, parking, and pedestrian approaches

Getting to Anaheim and around

John Wayne Airport and Long Beach Airport often provide shorter road transfers than Los Angeles International Airport. The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) connects regional rail and buses near the sports district; resort visitors should compare current OC Bus routes, hotel-operated shuttles, rideshare, and walking distances.

Before booking the transfer

Two park days do not have to mean two days of driving

For a Disneyland stay, compare the airport-to-hotel transfer separately from the daily trip to the gates. A hotel within walking distance of the gates can make both park days car-free; compare the airport ride with the cost of renting and parking a car.

A Packing House lunch or an evening at Angel Stadium or Honda Center changes the calculation. Downtown Anaheim and the eastern sports district are separate trips from the resort. Compare those rides and hotel parking with the cost of keeping a car for the stay.

Choose the way into Anaheim

Compare the flight and the journey after landing

Start with John Wayne and Long Beach when their flights suit the trip. LAX offers more flight choices; include the road transfer when comparing the total cost and travel time. Arriving by rail? ARTIC is the station connection, not the end of the journey to a resort hotel.

John Wayne Airport

John Wayne Airport (SNA) is the primary Orange County airport and usually the shortest airport road transfer to Anaheim. Compare nonstop service, fares, rideshare pickup, rental cars, and current ground transportation.

Long Beach Airport

Long Beach Airport (LGB) is another relatively close option with a smaller terminal footprint. Flight selection is narrower; road time still changes with traffic.

Los Angeles International Airport

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) offers the broadest flight network but the longest and least predictable road transfer. Do not treat map mileage as a reliable arrival time.

ARTIC and regional rail

The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) serves Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, Metrolink, buses, and event-area connections. Verify schedules, last departures, platform information, and the final transfer.

Anaheim airports and district connections

The resort district, Downtown Anaheim to its north, and the eastern Angel Stadium–Honda Center–ARTIC cluster require separate transfer choices. Compare the airport transfer, exact hotel entrance, current Orange County Transportation Authority bus route, ARTIC connection, and event destination before choosing a car. Map lines show planning corridors rather than turn-by-turn directions; check current traffic, transit, rail, parking, and event operations before departure.

  • The Disneyland Resort and Anaheim Convention Center cluster around Harbor Boulevard; Downtown Anaheim and the Packing District are several miles north.
  • Angel Stadium, Honda Center, and ARTIC form a separate eastern cluster. Event operations and construction can alter roads, parking, transit stops, and pedestrian approaches.

The hotel-to-gate journey

Check the entrance, not just the hotel address

Many east-side resort hotels approach the parks through the Harbor Boulevard pedestrian entrance. Hotels west of the parks may use the Downtown Disney District approach. Compare the complete lobby-to-entrance route with the walking distance your group wants to cover, including the return after a park day.

A comfortable walk also makes a midday return to the room more practical. If the distance does not suit, compare a current OC Bus connection, taxi, rideshare, or a hotel-operated shuttle. Confirm a shuttle's stops and return schedule rather than treating its existence as a complete transport plan.

OC Bus: match the stop to the hotel

Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) routes 43, 50, 53, 57, and 543 serve parts of Anaheim, while Route 553 is a weekday service. Use the operator's current map and timetable to check the exact stop, direction, and return service for your trip; a route number alone is not a hotel connection.

ARTIC: plan the return before the event

ARTIC serves the eastern stadium-and-arena corridor rather than the park entrances or downtown walk. For Angel Stadium or Honda Center, compare the train home with the event's finish time and follow the venue's current pedestrian instructions. Nearby venues do not necessarily share an approach, especially when construction changes access.

Arriving by car

Choose the parking destination before the freeway exit

Interstate 5 passes the resort district and connects Anaheim with Los Angeles and San Diego. State Route 57 serves the stadium and arena side of the city. Check traffic for the actual departure time: commuter travel, incidents, construction, events, and holidays can change the drive.

Confirm hotel parking before arrival, then treat each outing's parking separately. Disneyland Resort, Angel Stadium, Honda Center, the Anaheim Convention Center, and downtown lots operate under their own rules. A hotel space or one venue's parking receipt does not provide parking across Anaheim.

For a game or concert, use that event's current lot and entrance instructions rather than driving toward the venue name alone. For a resort stay, reach the hotel first and decide which later journeys actually need the car.
