Citrus-era downtown, museums, food halls, baseball, hockey, concerts, and regional extensions

Things to do in Anaheim

Anaheim beyond the park gates includes oak-canyon trails in Anaheim Hills, nineteenth-century homes at Founders' Park, changing exhibitions at Muzeo, downtown food halls, and ticketed sports nights. Los Angeles tours remain regional extensions rather than Anaheim attractions.

Start with a downtown half-day

A citrus packing house, now a place to gather for lunch

The Packing House gives Anaheim's agricultural past a present-day purpose. Food counters and communal tables occupy the restored building, while its timber structure and warehouse scale keep the citrus-packing story in view. Come for a meal, but look over both levels before choosing a counter.

Continue through Farmers Park and the neighboring MAKE and Packard buildings, then head north to Center Street Promenade for shops, cafes, and civic blocks. That change from a single food hall to the downtown around it is what makes the half-day worthwhile. Individual merchants keep their own hours; exposed crossings also make a shorter walk sensible in heat.

Art and the earlier city

A changing exhibition or a pair of historic houses

Muzeo and the Carnegie campus

Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center brings changing art and local-history exhibitions to the campus around Anaheim's former Carnegie Library. Choose it for the show on view, rather than expecting a permanent survey of Anaheim history. An exhibition that interests you can anchor one or two hours before Center Street or the Packing House.

Founders' Park

The 1857 Mother Colony House and 1894 Woelke-Stoffel House introduce an earlier Anaheim of vineyards and citrus. A Moreton Bay fig and recreated nineteenth-century landscape give the grounds interest beyond the interiors. This is a compact stop farther northwest, not the next block on the Packing House walk. Check the city's limited house-tour schedule if seeing inside is the reason to go.

Anaheim Hills

Trade the downtown buildings for oak woodland

Oak Canyon offers a different subject altogether: trails through woodland and coastal sage scrub, birds, and a quieter morning away from the resort. Choose it when the landscape is the outing you want, rather than adding it as another stop on a downtown circuit. Use the city's visitor information below for current trail and interpretive-center access.

Oak Canyon Nature Center

Four miles of trails cross oak woodland and coastal sage scrub in this 58-acre Anaheim Hills park. Allow two or three hours for the trails and a visit to the small interpretive center when open. The canyon is well east of the resort and separate from downtown; an Anaheim Hills meal makes a more natural companion than a Packing House lunch.

Baseball stadium concourse in Anaheim without team marks

An evening in the Platinum Triangle

Baseball at Angel Stadium, hockey or a concert at Honda Center

These are outings built around what is happening inside the venues. A baseball game, hockey game, or concert gives the eastern sports district an evening of its own; the buildings are not substitutes for the downtown walk on a non-event day. Choose the event that appeals, then let it be the evening's main attraction.

A Packing House lunch can come first, with a separate transfer east afterward. The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) serves regional rail and buses near the venues, not the downtown district. Check the return schedule and the venue's current pedestrian approach rather than inferring a workable journey from map distance.

Outside Anaheim

Hollywood or the coast belongs to a separate day

A Los Angeles sightseeing tour changes the subject to Hollywood and coastal stops; Universal Studios Hollywood is another full park day. Choose either instead of an Anaheim day or extend the stay. The options below are regional excursions, not Anaheim attractions. Compare each product's inclusions and departure arrangements before booking; do not assume a Universal ticket includes the transfer.

Regional day trips and ticket options

The VIP Experience at Universal Studios Hollywood

A premium full-day Universal Studios Hollywood excursion with guided priority access and tour-specific inclusions. It replaces an Anaheim park or downtown day and requires a separate Los Angeles transfer.

Regional day trips and ticket options

Anaheim to LA: Hollywood, Beaches & Famous Film Sites tour

A full-day sightseeing trip from the Anaheim and Buena Park area covering Hollywood, coastal stops, and film landmarks. It suits visitors who want supplied regional transport and are willing to give up an Anaheim park or downtown day.

Skip-the-Line Front-of-Line Pass at Universal Studios Hollywood

A Universal Studios Hollywood option centered on expedited attraction access rather than a guided VIP day. Check the exact inclusions and departure point; the Los Angeles park requires its own full day from Anaheim.
